The impact of gadget use on preschool children's speech competence = Влияние использования гаджетов на речевую компетентность детей дошкольного возраста

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyse and summarize the studies concerned with the problem of the impact of gadget use on preschoolers' speech competence. The undertaken literature analysis has shown that numerous studies examine the relationship between gadget use and child development. Their main findings demonstrate the link between excessive time spent on gadgets (screen time) by children under 6-years-old and their language delay. This article contributes to the area of research by interpreting the survey data obtained from preschool-aged children’s parents living in Belarus and Israel, thus providing information about the parents’ knowledge how to protect their children from the negative effects of excessive screen time.
